Italy secured a comfy 90-60 win over Switzerland at home on Sunday to extend their winning streak in Group G of the EuroBasket 2015 2nd Qualifying Round to two games.
The Italians lead the three-team group while Switzerland, who were playing without the injured Clint Capela and Greg Brunner, have dropped to 1-1 in the standings and Russia stand at 0-2.
Switzerland scored the first basket in Cagliari on Sunday but Italy used a 13-0 run to gain control over proceedings, reaching the end of the first quarter with a 22-8 lead and never looked back.
Italy took advantage of the fact the Swiss were forced to play without their starting frontline duo and out-rebounded the guests 42 to 30.
Most importantly however, the Azzurri shared the ball with remarkable efficiency, dished out a collective 24 assists and as a direct result they had five of their players scoring in double digits.
Alessandro Gentile and Pietro Aradori paced the Italian offence with 17 points and five assists each, while Luigi Datome finished with 15 points.
For Switzerland, Dusan Mladjan had a game-high 18 points and his brother Marko added 13 points and six rebounds.
