|Omri Casspi had a good game for Israel|
The Israelis, who saw point guard Gal Mekel deliver the first triple-double performance of the Qualifying Round, are now tied with the Netherlands at the top of the group with three wins in four games while Montenegro have dropped to 2-2.
The clash had featured 13 lead changes and seen the scores tied on 10 occasions in the first half but Israel scored the last seven points to go into the half-time interval with a 37-32 lead.
It was a declaration on behalf of the guests of their intentions to break open this tight encounter in the second half and Omri Casspi, with a lay-up 7:09 from the end of the third quarter, gave his team a 46-34 lead.
Israel kept their own on the glass and, with Montenegro shooting just 5-for-24 from three-point range, the visitors had no problem at all at keeping their hosts at arm's length the rest of the way, maintaining the lead at double-digit levels until the final buzzer.
Mekel collected an outstanding 14 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists, while Casspi finished with 17 points and eight rebounds.
For Montenegro, Vladimir Dragicevic finished with a game-high 19 points in a losing effort.
