Greece took over the inside track for first place in Group C at EuroBasket 2015 by coming back from a double-digit deficit to beat hosts Croatia 72-70 in a showdown of heavyweights and podium contenders.
Turning Point: Croatia led by 10 points and as many as eight points in the fourth quarter but Greece used a 13-2 run to take a 72-67 lead with just more than a minute to play. Krunoslav Simon had a chance to tie the game with one second left but was off-target.
Stats Don't Lie: Greece scored 44 points in the paint compared to 28 for Croatia . Despite losing the rebounding battle 32-26, the Greeks did grab 14 offensive rebounds, giving them 13 second-chance points to six for Croatia.
Game Hero: As so many times before, Vassilis Spanoulis did it all for the Greeks with 16 points, four rebounds and six assists.
Bottom Line: Greece improved to 2-0 in Group C and following a rest day on Monday, will take on Georgia. The Croatians, who fell to 1-1 in the group, face The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia on the third day of Group C action.
