A host of players who starred at the recent EuroBasket 2015 shined bright at Barclays Center in New York on Monday night as they propelled Turkish giants Fenerbahce to a 101-96 victory over the Brooklyn Nets in an international warm-up game.
Spain head coach Sergio Scariolo has dismantled the popular narrative on the motivation of the EuroBasket 2015 gold medallists and has also revealed details about the future of the three-time European champions.
"We have endured a lot but maybe at the end when you suffer for something you enjoy it double, I think the whole of Spain played this game with us, the whole of Spain has tasted this victory. In a tournament you live in a sort of a bubble but we have realised that people got hooked on basketball once again."
"Congratulations to Spain, they were better today. If somebody told us before the tournament that we would finish second we would sign it, but of course when you go through such a long, hard way to reach here, it makes us so sad to have lost."
