Bosnia and Herzegovina Down Iceland

Bosnia and Herzegovina were in sparkling form during long stretches on Sunday en route to a 72-62 win over Iceland at home in the EuroBasket 2015 2nd Qualifying Round.

The hosts are now the only undefeated side in Group A, with two victories in as many games, while Iceland have dropped to 1-1 and Great Britain stand at 0-2.

Following a very slow start to the game, Bosnia and Herzegovina scored 20 points in the final six-minute stretch of the opening quarter to jump to a 22-10 lead at the first buzzer, behind nine early points from Mirza Teletovic.

Iceland found some success from long range and took advantage from the hosts' drop in shooting accuracy and managed to reduce the gap to 34-27 on a Logi Gunnarsson lay-up just before half-time.

But Bosnia and Herzegovina came out after the break determined to put the game beyond reach.

Andrija Stipanovic poured in all of his eight points in quick succession and instigated a 17-4 burst for the hosts that would see them grab a 20-point lead, 51-31, with 3:30 remaining in the third period.

Muhamed Pasalic hit a triple with 32 seconds left to the third buzzer to give the hosts their biggest lead all night, 56-33.

Iceland threw everything at their hosts in the fourth and Gunnarsson, with a brave three-pointer on the fast break, reduced to 63-57 with 2:57 remaining on the clock.

Teletovic though immediately replied with a triple of his own, Marko Sutalo followed his example on the next possession and the Brooklyn Nets forward once again sealed the home win, with another big three 1:34 from time, which made it 72-54 for the hosts.

For the winners, Teletovic collected a double-double of 29 points and 12 rebounds while Sutalo added 11 points.

Gunnarsson finished with 18 points and Hördur Vilhjálmsson added 14 points for Iceland in defeat.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes Bosnia and Herzegovina vs. Iceland

Craig Pedersen, Iceland Head Coach
"This was a very good game with a great atmosphere. Over the years as a player and coach this is one of the best atmospheres I have experienced. We rested our point guard for the next game as it is very important for us to win against Great Britain. We will have to be very unlucky not to go on if we win against Great Britain."

Hordur Vilhjalmsson, Iceland
"This was an unbelievable atmosphere and as a player I thrive to play in this environment. I practiced in Red Star in Belgrade and it was a very similar crazy atmosphere"

Dusko Ivanovic Bosnia and Herzegovina Head Coach
"Iceland is very good and an atypical team and it was not an easy win. After a big point difference we made a few crucial mistakes because of the excitement but we came back. Because of the excitement we went a step back instead of forward."

Mirza Teletovic, Bosnia and Herzegovina
"Even harder is the road ahead of us because Great Britain now knows our game and what they can expect. We all had great hopes and energy for a win."
