Firstly, they forced their guests to commit 22 turnovers, off which they scored 28 points.

Secondly, Mahalbasic came back from the locker rooms after the interval determined to take matters in his hands and reeled in 20 points in the second half on excellent shooting percentages (13-of-20 from the floor), to enable Austria to take the lead.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes Austria vs. Denmark

Austria head coach Werner Sallomon
"We totally overslept the start of the encounter and let the Danish totally dictate the tempo. It was not until the second half that we managed to perform the way we usually do. Anyway, I am not satisfied completely but the most important thing is that we were successful in the end."

Austria shooting guard Anton Maresch
"In the first half we took good shots but didn't manage to exploit the chances that we created. In the second twenty minutes, however, everything worked out great. For the upcoming game against Switzerland we need to focus on our offensive play right from the beginning and it will be crucial to act as a team."

Denmark head coach Pieti Poikola
"We were able to challenge Austria in the first half but they totally caught us out of our game in the second. Austria increased the pressure and we had troubles playing against their forceful defense. However, losing by 20 points I am very disappointed of today's performance."

Denmark shooting guard Esben Reinolt
"At first we managed to attack the basket and control the rebound. In the third quarter, however, Austria was running hot and we could not contain them in extending their lead. I think our team was simply too tired due to the many away games we played the past few days."
