GAME REPORT

Hungary Storm Past Slovak Republic

9. David Vojvoda (Hungary)
David Vojvoda led the winning side with 17 points

Hungary came out guns blazing at home on Sunday to grab a 19-point lead over the Slovak Republic in the first quarter and ultimately enjoy a 75-43 rout in Group D action in the EuroBasket 2015 1st Qualification Round.

While this was the opening game in the competition for the Slovaks, Hungary have got their campaign back on track with the result, following their 79-75 defeat away to Belarus last Thursday.

On Sunday, Hungary effectively sealed victory within 20 minutes, as they gave up only 15 points to their guests in the entire first half and went to the locker rooms for the half-time interval holding a 30-point advantage.

Hungary, who scored 25 points off their opponents' turnovers, could afford to take their foot off the gas in the second half and still maintain a comfortable minimum cushion of 26 points at all times, even extending it to 36 points momentarily midway through the final quarter.

The Slovaks held their own on the glass but had no chance of ever changing the course of the clash as they converted only 27 percent of their shot attempts from the floor, including 2-of-17 from three-point range.

Winger David Vojvoda paved the way for the hosts with 17 points and five rebounds, forward Zsolt Szabó had 11 points and seven boards and point guard Balázs Simon chipped in with 10 points and a game-high six assists.

Forward Peter Dorazil was the only Slovak to score in double digits, in a double-double display of 16 points and 10 rebounds.
