After the disappointment of missing EuroBasket 2009, Zlatin Georgiev looks to be in the frame for a major tournament debut after enjoying a fruitful Qualifying Round. A shooting guard with impressive range, Georgiev was a real bright spot for Bulgaria last summer when he played over 18 minutes per game and shot the ball superbly both inside and out. Even more of a bonus was that he showed he has worked hard to improve his ball handling while also stepping up to the plate defensively with 1.4 steals per game. Those quick hands and deadly accuracy now make him a real contender for court time in Lithuania. He didn't have the most exciting season for his club team, playing with minor injuries in the beginning of the year but he fought back hard, to show his defensive capabilities. When he is focused and gets his shooting game going, he can easily pour in some serious points as well as coming up with vital stops.
